Interior and exterior WPC panels share a material family and nothing else that matters outdoors. The exterior boards are co-extruded, thicker in section and built to resist UV, acid, alkali and insects. Putting an interior panel outside is the single most expensive mistake in this category.

Check whether the surface is co-extruded

A surface added after the fact is the one that chalks.

Outdoor boards carry a co-extruded skin laid down in the same pass as the core. Interior panels carry a laminated veneer instead.

Check the section depth

Exterior boards take impact and thermal movement interior panels never see.

Outdoor sections run 219x26mm and 156x21mm. Interior panels run 10mm to 23mm deep.

Plan a ventilated cavity outdoors

Water trapped behind a board is what ends a facade.

Fix exterior boards to a batten or aluminium substructure with a drainage cavity and expansion gaps at board ends.

Decking is a third case again

A wall board underfoot is not decking.

WPC decking is a 140x25mm hollow chambered board in 2.4 to 5.4m lengths, fixed over a joist grid with edge clips.

Match the colour across the whole elevation

Two batches on one facade is visible from the street.

It puts the weather resistant layer down with the core in one pass, so it cannot separate the way a bonded surface can.

No. Decking is a 140x25mm walking surface; cladding is a wall board in 219x26mm or 156x21mm.
