OEM Branding Options on Existing Tooling
What can be changed without cutting new tooling, and what cannot.

Free of tooling: colour and finish
Colour and surface finish are the cheapest changes available. The J-001 alone carries nine catalogue finishes - light wood, deep wood, crack, pink, fruit green, sky blue, pearl white and two mixes - on a single tool. A brand palette is usually achievable without touching steel.
Free of tooling: print, legend and packaging
Logo printing, key legends and colour box artwork are applied in the factory. Together with colour, this is normally enough to make a catalogue product read as a brand product on a shelf.
Low tooling cost: trim parts and light rings
Trim rings, light diffusers and small cosmetic parts are separate mouldings. Changing one of them changes the perceived design far more than its tooling cost suggests.
Real tooling: the main housing
A new main housing is real tooling with a real lead time. It is worth it when the silhouette is the brand, and it is not worth it when the brand can be carried by finish and trim. Deciding this early is the single biggest schedule lever in an OEM programme.
What never changes quietly
The certified power stage, the atomiser and the motor stay as they are unless there is a technical reason to change them. Changing them means re-testing, and on power products it means re-certifying.
