A wheel chock is the cheapest thing on a loading dock and the one that most often is not there. S&L lists six models, SL-WC-01 to SL-WC-06, across folded steel, cast iron, laminated rubber and moulded rubber, so a site can match the chock to its yard surface rather than take whatever arrives.
Chock choice comes down to the yard surface and the handling. On a clean concrete apron a moulded rubber chock grips well and is quiet to place. On a gravel or broken surface a steel or cast iron chock bites in where rubber would skid.
Handling matters more than buyers expect. A chock that has to be carried the length of a trailer in the rain gets left in the cab. The models with a bail handle or a side carry handle are the ones that actually end up under a wheel.
SL-WC-02 carries Safety First Check Your Wheels cast into the face, which makes the chock legible as a safety item rather than a lump of iron someone might move.
All six models are listed in the same S&L range, so a site can standardise on one supplier while still running different chocks in the yard and at the dock face.

Folded steel, cast iron, laminated rubber, curved steel, moulded rubber and diamond tread steel cover clean concrete through to broken yard surfaces.
The laminated rubber chock has a welded steel bail handle and the diamond tread steel chock a side carry handle.
SL-WC-02 has its warning cast into the body rather than printed on it.

Folded and fabricated steel, cast iron, laminated rubber and moulded rubber depending on model. Steel models are finished in safety yellow.
ManufacturingSteel models are cut, formed and welded before painting. Cast models are poured and dressed. Rubber models are moulded or laminated and fitted with a handle where the model calls for one.
Profile and face condition checked on every model; handle weld checked on SL-WC-03 and SL-WC-06; paint coverage checked on the steel models.
CertificationsNo third-party certification is published for Wheel Chocks in S&L's own documentation, so this page marks it TBC at quotation rather than implying one. For chocks the useful evidence is a rated vehicle weight rather than a mark. That rating is not published for these models, so ask for it in writing before you standardise on one.
| Option | When To Choose It |
|---|---|
| Rubber chock | Grips clean concrete, quiet to place, no spark risk. |
| Cast iron chock | Bites into a broken or gravel surface and carries a cast-in safety message. |
| Steel chock | Hardest wearing of the three, and the diamond tread model has a side handle for carrying. |
Rated weights are not published on the original S&L documentation. Confirm the rating for the model you want at quotation and state the vehicle type.
A steel or cast iron chock. Rubber grips a clean concrete apron well but can skid on loose surfaces.
SL-WC-03 has a welded steel bail handle and SL-WC-06 has a side carry handle.
Safety First Check Your Wheels, cast into the body so it cannot wear off.
Yes. The six models are part of one range and are quoted together.
