Medical Mold Development

From your 3D part data to a sampled, released production tool, without the part leaving our site.

Stage By Stage

What Happens At Each Point And Why

Each stage below names the problem first and our answer second, because the answer only means something once the problem is stated plainly.

Stage 01

Design Review

The Problem
Parts arrive drawn for function with no thought for draft, gate position or wall transitions.
How We Solve It
We review the 3D data before quoting and return specific changes rather than a blanket warning that it may be difficult.
Stage 02

Mold Design

The Problem
A mold layout decided by the machinist as he goes gives you a tool nobody can document later.
How We Solve It
Mold design is completed and issued for your approval before steel is cut, including cavitation, cooling and ejection.
Stage 03

Steel Machining

The Problem
Cavity detail subcontracted to a cheaper shop comes back at whatever accuracy that shop can hold.
How We Solve It
Machining runs on our own five axis, high speed and EDM equipment at 0.002 to 0.005 mm on ground surfaces.
Stage 04

Sampling

The Problem
A single good first shot is treated as proof the tool is ready.
How We Solve It
Every cavity is sampled and measured against the drawing before the tool is released to production.
Stage 05

Release To Production

The Problem
Tools move between plants and their history is lost.
How We Solve It
The tool stays here, and our ERP system records the lot, tool and machine behind every shipment made from it.
Questions Buyers Ask

Questions About Medical Mold Development

How many molds do you build a year?

Between 350 and 400 sets, which is why a single new tool fits the schedule rather than disrupting it.

Do you own the tool or do we?

Tool ownership is agreed in the contract before work starts. We do not treat it as an unstated assumption.
