A customer project documented on our original site under the heading Water Tightness, covering a molded container and its matching closure.
A container and a closure can each pass dimensional inspection and still leak together, because the seal is a property of the pair and not of either part alone.

Both parts were held on tooling in our own plant, so the sealing land could be adjusted on one side or the other without a supplier negotiation. Water tightness testing was carried out on assembled pairs rather than on individual components.
Holding both cavities in one plant removed the second supplier from the loop entirely, which is what made a same week correction possible.
Testing was done on assembled pairs, with results recorded against tool and lot in our ERP system.
A container and closure pair validated together rather than separately, with the tooling for both under one roof for future corrections.
One supplier to call, one place to correct a seal, and a test result that reflects the product as it actually ships.
