NDI Questions

Why choose NDI over MDI for an elastomer?

Dynamic performance. NDI cast elastomers show markedly lower heat build up and better tear and abrasion resistance under continuous cyclic load. For static or low duty parts, MDI is the more economical choice.

How is a solid with a 127 degree melting point processed?

Through prepolymer routes. NDI is reacted with the polyol to form a prepolymer, which is then chain extended. It is not a drop in replacement for a liquid isocyanate.

What polyol pairs well with NDI?

Polycaprolactone polyols are widely used in cast elastomer work. Our polyol table gives molecular weight, hydroxyl value and acid value for every grade so the soft segment can be matched to the target hardness.
