Three head parts that go together: an external cup threadless headset at 110 grams with a 33 mm stack, a semi-internal headset at 98 grams with a 9.5 mm stack, and an AL7075 star nut at 7 grams that anchors the top cap bolt in either one.
The Problem It Solves
Headset choice is decided by the frame, not by preference. An external cup fits a plain head tube; a semi-internal cup needs a head tube machined for it. Getting this wrong at specification stage means a frame that cannot be built.
