How It Works

ODM is where the design work sits with us. Brands come with a brief - a weight target, a price point, a market segment - and we develop a part that fits it using processes we already run. Shenzhen SuRuiqi has built an in-house development team for exactly this work, and has provided OEM and ODM services to brands since 2009.

Step by step

From First Enquiry to Delivered Carton

  1. Brief

    Target weight, target price, the riders you are selling to, and the parts you are currently buying that you are unhappy with.

  2. Concept

    We propose a construction. For a machined part that means alloy, bearing count and stack height; for luggage it means denier, membrane and whether the seams are welded or sewn.

  3. Prototype

    A working sample, made the way production would make it.

  4. Revision

    Usually one or two rounds. Weight and fit are the two things that change most often at this stage.

  5. Pre-production run

    A small run that proves the process is repeatable before the tooling is fully committed.

  6. Handover

    You receive the specification sheet, the packing design and the photography inputs for your own listings.

ODM Development Questions

Does the design belong to us or to you?
Agree it before development starts and put it on the purchase order. Where you fund the development and the tooling, the normal arrangement is that the design is exclusive to you.
How long does an ODM project take?
It depends entirely on whether tooling is needed. A machined part derived from an existing platform is much faster than a new moulded cage. We will not quote a timeline here that we have not agreed with you for your specific part.
Can you match a competitor's part?
We can quote a part that meets the same specification. We will not copy a protected design or reproduce another company's branding.
What do you need from us to start?
The brief, the target price and the annual quantity. Those three things decide whether a project is worth tooling for.
