RF Wi-Fi or LoRa Which Weather Station Link to Buy
How the three link types in the UCTECH range differ in range, dependency and after-sales cost, and which market each one suits.
Three different problems
UCTECH builds the same measuring hardware in three link variants because buyers have three different problems. RF is for customers who want an instrument, not a service. Wi-Fi is for customers who want their data off-site. LoRa is for customers whose sensor is too far away for either.
RF: nothing to configure, nothing to fail
A 433 MHz weather station is a closed pair. The sensor transmits, the console receives, and nothing else is required — no router, no account, no app, no firmware. For a retail or gift programme this is the lowest support-cost product you can sell, and in markets with unreliable domestic Wi-Fi it is often the only one that works. The limit is range: around 100 m in open area, much less through a brick wall or metal cladding.
Wi-Fi: the data leaves the building
A Wi-Fi console joins a 2.4 GHz network and uploads to Weather Underground and WeatherCloud, with some models supporting WeatherHome and a mobile app. Nothing is subscribed and no gateway is bought. The trade is support: the customer now has a router, an SSID, a password and a cloud account in the path, and a share of your returns will be network problems rather than product faults. Sell it where the value of remote visibility justifies that.
LoRa: distance, not features
A LoRa model is not a better weather station; it is the same weather station with a link that carries further. Choose it when the measured distance between sensor and console defeats 433 MHz — a farm building, a yard mast, a block at the far end of a vineyard. Band allocation differs by region and is confirmed per order.
A practical rule
If the customer asks "will it work without internet", sell RF. If they ask "can I see it from the office", sell Wi-Fi. If they walk the site and the sensor is 200 m from where the display goes, sell LoRa. Most bad outcomes in this category come from answering one of those questions with a product that solves a different one.
