Hot Rolled Special Profiles
Near net shape sections rolled from your drawing in cross sections up to 7000 mm2
What Hot Rolled Special Profiles Is and Who It Is For
Hot rolled special profiles are rolled to a cross section you define instead of being machined out of round or flat bar. Tianhao rolls them from 10 mm2 up to 7000 mm2 in lengths up to 12 m or cut to a fixed length, in carbon, free cutting, alloy and stainless grades. They are the usual starting point for beater bars, ploughshare sections, bending tools and seat fastening rails.
Key Benefits
- Cross section arrives close to the finished shape, so less material is cut away and less scrap is paid for
- One rolled section can replace a welded assembly of flat and angle stock
- Straightness can be tightened to 0.3 mm/m on request when the part feeds an automatic machine
- Fixed length cutting and hole punching are done before the bars leave us
| Surface | Ra < 40 um, defects 0.3 mm max |
|---|---|
| Size tolerances | up to 0.5 mm |
| Straightness | standard <= 1.0 mm/m, on request <= 0.3 mm/m |
| Twisting | standard <= 1 deg/m, on request <= 0.5 deg/m |
| Cross section | 10 mm2 up to 7000 mm2 |
| Length | up to 12 m or cut to fixed length |
Who It Is For
- Agricultural machinery OEMs buying wear sections in volume
- Machine tool builders who need tool steel sections in rolled condition
- Railway interior suppliers working to fixed cut lengths
Problems It Solves
- Machining a profile from bar wastes both material and spindle hours
- Welded-up sections distort under load and need straightening
- Bought-in standard sections rarely match the real cross section on the drawing
Technical Features
- Rolled to a customer cross section, not a catalogue section
- Optional heat treatment after rolling
- Additional straightening on automatic presses
- Delivered in bars or cut to fixed lengths with holes

How It Compares
Compared with cold drawn profiles, hot rolled sections carry a coarser surface and wider tolerances but allow much larger cross sections, up to 7000 mm2 against 3800 mm2, and longer bars, up to 12 m against 6 m.
Use Guide
- Send the cross section drawing with the tolerance that actually matters for assembly
- State whether the bars feed an automatic machine, so we can quote tightened straightness
- Confirm bar length or the fixed cut length and hole pattern
- Approve the sample bars before we release volume production

Questions Buyers Ask About Hot Rolled Special Profiles
What is the largest cross section you can hot roll?
Up to 7000 mm2. Below about 10 mm2 the section is better produced by cold drawing.
How straight are the bars as standard?
Standard straightness is 1.0 mm/m or better. On request we straighten to 0.3 mm/m on automatic presses.
Can you supply bars already cut and drilled?
Yes. Profiles can be delivered in fixed lengths with holes rather than in mill lengths.
