Steel Pallets vs Plastic and Wooden Pallets
Timber is the cheapest pallet to buy and the most expensive to certify. Plastic is clean until it cracks. The case for steel is made over the life of the fleet, not at the first invoice.
The Fumigation Problem Disappears
Solid wood packaging moving across borders falls under ISPM 15, which means heat treatment or fumigation, a stamp and a paper trail, and consignments still get held when the stamp is disputed. A steel pallet is outside those rules. There is no treatment step and no certificate to chase.
Repair Versus Replace
A damaged timber pallet is usually scrapped. A cracked plastic runner cannot be repaired at all. A steel pallet can be repaired and returned to service, and our pallets are described as durable, high strength and easy to repair for exactly that reason, which is what makes the long term cost lower than plastic or wood.
Wet Cold and Fire
Steel pallets are water-proof, fire-proof and insect-proof, which suits extreme environments. Timber absorbs water, gains weight, grows mould and fails in a cold store within a season. That is a running cost, not a one-off.
Handling and Safety
Our pallets use an obtuse angle design so there is no sharp corner to catch a hand or a wrapped load, a special reinforcement design in the supporting pillar, and a 4-way entry that suits both forklift and pallet truck. Anti-slip rubber and anti-strike rubber are available on request where the load is smooth-bottomed.
Where Timber Still Wins
Timber remains the right answer for genuinely one-way shipments of low value goods, where the pallet is not coming back and the fumigation cost is small against the consignment. Steel earns its price where the pallet circulates, where the store is wet or cold, or where border delays cost more than the pallet does.
