Two Duties That Both Rule Out The Default Cartridge

Sanitary lines and aggressive chemical lines have nothing in common except that neither can use the standard polypropylene cartridge in a painted steel vessel. One is constrained by what may touch product and how the vessel is cleaned. The other is constrained by what survives the fluid. In both cases the materials decision comes before the micron decision.

Working Through The Materials Decision

Name The Fluid And The Clean

Problem: An elastomer chosen for the product often fails on the cleaning chemistry instead.

We ask for both the process fluid and the clean in place regime, then select a compound that survives each of them.

Choose The Wetted Materials

Problem: A cartridge that resists the acid can still shed extractables into a sensitive stream.

Fluoropolymer construction is available where PTFE membranes and PFA hardware are the right answer, and stainless steel where plastics are not.

Match The Vessel

Problem: A sanitary element in an industrial vessel with dead legs defeats the point.

Sanitary and clamp closure housings are supplied alongside the elements so the vessel and the element are specified together.

Plan The Change-Out

Problem: Hygiene and corrosive duties both make a slow awkward change-out expensive in a different way.

Clamp and swing bolt closures are selected for how the vessel will actually be opened and by whom.

Which construction do you offer for aggressive chemistry?
Fluoropolymer cartridges using PTFE membrane with PFA core, cage and end caps are available for the most aggressive acids, bases and organics. Tell us the fluid and the temperature and we will confirm suitability.
Do you hold food or pharmaceutical certification?
We do not publish certification claims on this site. If your specification requires documentation, tell us what is needed and we will confirm what can and cannot be supplied before you order.
Can I get sanitary housings and elements together?
Yes. Sanitary and clamp closure housings are supplied alongside the cartridges and lenticular modules that go in them.
How do I choose between plastic and stainless housings?
Plastic suits corrosive duty at modest pressure and temperature. Stainless suits higher pressure, hot service and sanitary duty. Send the operating conditions and we will advise.
What information do you need to select an elastomer?
The process fluid, its temperature, and the cleaning chemistry and its temperature. Missing the clean is the most common reason an elastomer choice fails.
