Why This Matters
The most common cause of a wrong pump arriving is that it was ordered on the vehicle model. Two MERCEDES BENZ references in our own catalogue differ by four digits. Two MITSUBISHI FUSO references differ only by engine code. The truck model does not distinguish them.
How It Works Step by Step
Read the number off the unit
The OEM number, the ZF casting number or the manufacturer reference is on the pump body. Photograph it — a photograph on WhatsApp is faster and more reliable than typing a number that may be partly corroded.
Match against the published references
Every pump page here lists the OEM reference, the manufacturer or ZF number and the Kerns stock number. You can do the match yourself before contacting us.
Check the hydraulic data
Displacement, maximum pressure, speed range, flow rate, port threads and rotation direction are published for each reference. A pump that matches the number but not the rotation will not work.
Confirm before the order is placed
Where the number is illegible or the reference is not in the published list, send the engine code and the photograph and the correct reference will be confirmed in writing first.

What if the number on my pump is unreadable?
Send a photograph of the pump and the engine code. Identification can usually be made from the casting shape and the engine series.
Do you list every OEM number a pump covers?
The published references are those given in our catalogue. If your number is not listed, send it and we will confirm whether it is covered.
Why does rotation direction matter?
A gear pump run in the wrong direction will not build pressure and can be damaged. Our listings give the direction for each reference.
