The Automated Machine to Make Entire 3D Channel Letters
Traditionally a channel letter passes through several machines. Here is how one machine produces the complete letter, and how the two printed parts go together.
What the Machine Replaces
Making a 3D channel letter in the traditional way requires a CNC router, cutting machine, engraving machine, bending machine and welding machine cooperating with each other. One 3D sign printer makes the entire letter, including the letter front, the letter side and the letter back.
Preview Before Printing
Both parts, the front and side as one piece and the back as the other, are exported from the slicing software and can be previewed there before anything is printed. Checking the preview is the cheapest quality step in the whole process.
The Printing Process
The machine prints the letter front, the letter side and the letter back one after another, layer by layer. The process is automatic, so the operator sets the job rather than working through it.
Two Parts That Match
When the print finishes there are two parts: the letter front with its side, and the letter back. Because both were exported from the same slicing file they match each other exactly.
Assembly
The letter back installs into the letter front and side. Since the two parts come from one file they assemble easily, and glue holds them together. Check the front view, back view and side view before the letter goes to installation.
Where the LED Strip Goes
The LED strip is fitted inside the return before the two parts are closed together. This is the point to confirm the colour temperature against the face colour, because reopening a glued letter on site is not a repair anyone wants to do.
