Overview

Product Overview

The CRA-800 forms bias airway buffing wheels, also known as ventilated sisal buffs, airflow buffs, or bias airway buffs, with outer diameters from 200 mm to 600 mm. It takes prepared bias fabric or sisal and an iron claw or iron plate, then folds, indexes, and clamps the material into a finished wheel body. One operator runs the machine. It is the forming step in a four-machine production line: bias cutting on the CRA-500, forming here, pressing on the CRA-600, and edge trimming on the CRA-700.

Benefits

Key Benefits

  • One operator replaces a bench of hand workers on the forming step
  • Covers the 200 to 600 mm diameter range used in most industrial buffing applications
  • Runs soft untreated fabric and resin treated fabric or sisal on the same machine
  • Rated output up to 5000 pieces per day under full shift operation
  • Accepts 2 inch, 2.5 inch, and 5 inch iron claws and round or hexagon hole iron plates
  • Control interface and machine language are in English, matching the operator manual
Where It Is Used

Application Scenarios

  • A buffing wheel factory replacing manual folding with automated forming
  • An abrasive distributor starting in-house production of ventilated airway buffs
  • A metal finishing line expanding to produce larger 500 to 600 mm wheels for stainless steel polishing
  • A workshop already using a CRA-500 bias cutter and needing the next step in the forming process
Fit

Who It Is For

  • Buffing and polishing wheel manufacturers
  • Abrasive product makers adding ventilated wheel lines
  • Metal finishing shops that consume large volumes of their own buffs
  • Distributors in regions where imported airway buffs have high freight and lead time
Buyer Pain Points

Problems It Solves

  • Manual folding leads to inconsistent ply spacing, causing finish quality drift between operators
  • Hand forming limits daily output and requires multiple workers per shift
  • Purchasing finished airway buffs from abroad adds freight cost and delays every reorder
  • Changing wheel diameter by hand requires retraining rather than a simple clamp change
Engineering

Technical Features

  • Hydraulic system with left and right cylinders acting on the trestle and turntable
  • Left and right upper spandex clamps hold the material stack during indexing
  • Circuit board and pressure gauge on a single control panel for monitoring
  • Turntable indexes the wheel body between folds to ensure consistent ply spacing
  • Cutter section trims the formed body before it exits the machine
  • Adjustable batching speed to stabilize soft fabric and hard treated sisal

Material Options

Materials

  • Soft untreated cotton fabric
  • Resin treated fabric in yellow, blue, green or red
  • Sisal cloth and sisal stitched with cloth
  • Iron claw centres in 2 inch, 2.5 inch and 5 inch
  • Iron plate centres with round hole or hexagon hole
Process

Manufacturing And Process

Step 1

Prepare bias fabric or sisal rolls using a CRA-500 bias cutting and rolling machine or equivalent

Step 2

Load the roll and select the iron claw or iron plate for the wheel centre

Step 3

Set the batching speed and clamp set for the target outer diameter

Step 4

The turntable indexes and the cylinders fold and clamp each ply onto the centre

Step 5

The formed body is trimmed and unloaded, then sent to pressing on a CRA-600

Step 6

Edge cutting on a CRA-700 gives the finished wheel its running face

QC

Quality Control

  • Hydraulic pressure maintained at 7 MPa on both moulding and finishing to ensure repeatable ply density
  • Sample wheels formed and inspected before shipment
  • Free sample testing available on the buyer's own fabric or sisal before purchase
  • Installation and operation training provided to ensure the first production run is supervised
Customisation

Customization Options

  • Voltage and phase configured for the destination market
  • Clamp sets supplied for the diameter bands the buyer actually sells
  • Iron claw or iron plate tooling matched to the buyer's existing centres
  • Machine can be quoted as part of a CRA-500, CRA-800, CRA-600, CRA-700 production line
Comparison

Compared With The Alternatives

CRA-300 Airway Buffs Forming Iris MachineThe CRA-300 covers 100 to 250 mm wheels; choose it for small jewellery and bench grinder sizes, not for 200 to 600 mm production wheels
CRA-360 Airflow Corrugated Buffs Making MachineThe CRA-360 forms corrugated or weave buffs, a different wheel structure, not ventilated airway wheels
Manual airway wheel foldingHand folding requires no capital investment but cannot maintain consistent ply spacing across operators or reach 5000 pieces per day
Operation

Use Guide

  • Confirm incoming fabric or sisal is cut on the bias before forming; straight cut material will not fold evenly
  • Change the clamp set to switch between diameter bands; a set change takes effort similar to a tooling swap and is not a daily operation
  • Keep the hydraulic pressure gauge at 7 MPa; a drop indicates loose ply spacing before it affects wheel diameter
  • Send formed bodies to pressing the same shift to prevent ply stack relaxation
  • Contact us on WhatsApp for the English operation video if the operator is new to airway forming
FAQ

CRA-800 Bias Airway Buffs Ventilated Sisal Buffs Forming Machine (OD 200-600 mm) FAQ

What diameter of airway buffs can this machine make?

From 200 mm to 600 mm outer diameter. For 100 to 250 mm wheels, use the CRA-300 iris machine instead.

How many people are needed to run it?

One operator. The clamping, indexing, and trimming are handled by the machine’s hydraulic and control system.

What is the daily output?

Up to 5000 pieces per day at maximum rate. Real output depends on diameter, ply count, and material type.

Do I need other machines to make a finished wheel?

Yes. Bias fabric preparation comes before forming, and pressing and edge cutting come after. We supply the CRA-500, CRA-600, and CRA-700 for those steps.

What is the lead time?

5 to 15 workdays if the machine is in stock, otherwise 15 to 60 workdays depending on quantity and model.

What are the payment terms?

Orders up to 10000 USD are 100% in advance. Above 10000 USD, it is 30% T/T deposit with the balance before shipment.

Can you test my own fabric before I buy?

Yes, free sample testing is available. You cover freight and send the specific material you plan to run.
