Forged Stainless Steel Giant Mushrooms
A landscape project required large-scale, site-specific metal sculptures to enhance public space. The design called for organic, sculptural forms that could serve as focal points in an open urban environment.
Project Challenge
The form had to be constructed from a single material with consistent surface finish, despite complex curvature and height. The piece needed to maintain a flawless polished appearance after forging and assembly.

Our Solution
The workshop used hand forging to shape the stainless steel plates according to calculated forming data. The entire surface was mirror polished after welding and assembly to achieve a uniform finish.
Manufacturing
How It Was Built
- Hand forging of stainless steel plates to match the curved form
- Welding of assembled sections with precise joint alignment
- Grinding through multiple grits to prepare surface for polishing
- Mirror polishing applied to the entire exterior surface
- Protective film applied to the finished piece before storage
- Storage in the workshop under controlled conditions with film intact
Supply Chain
The 304 stainless steel was sourced and processed in-house. The sculpture was sectioned for transport and reassembled on-site. No external suppliers or ports were involved in the documented process.
Quality Control
Shape was verified against the approved model before and after forming. Weld joints were inspected for smoothness and alignment. Surface finish was checked under direct light for uniformity and defects.
Final Result
Two finished giant mushroom sculptures were produced, fully polished and protected with film. They remained in the workshop until photographed and prepared for shipment.
