Fire and Safety Behaviour of PVC Trunking

Self Extinguishing
The compound we extrude does not support combustion: remove the flame source and the material stops burning rather than carrying fire along the run. This is the single property that makes PVC acceptable for containment in public buildings.
Non Conductive Body
PVC does not conduct, so the containment itself is not a shock path if a cable is damaged inside it. Metal containment needs bonding to achieve the same result.
The Standard Reference
Our trunking specification lists IEC 61084-2-1, the standard covering cable trunking and ducting systems intended for mounting on walls and ceilings. Ask for the current test documentation for the exact profile you are buying.
Voltage
The trunking range is specified for internal wiring protecting wire under 1200 V.
What To Ask For
Certificate copies for RoHS, TUV and SGS, the specification sheet for the profile, and a physical sample. We supply all three; a supplier who will not is telling you something.
