Where adhesive fixing works, where it does not, and how to stop a run lifting off the wall in month three.
The Case For Adhesive
No drilling, no dust, no damage to a tiled or panelled surface, and a run that goes up in minutes. In occupied and rented rooms it is often the only acceptable method.
Surfaces That Hold
Smooth, dry, sound and clean: painted plaster, tile, glass, laminate and sealed timber. Wipe the line first; dust is what most failures are actually made of.
Surfaces That Do Not
Textured or chalky paint, bare masonry, damp walls, and anything above about 40 degrees in direct sun. On these, screw fix instead and treat the tape as a positioning aid.
Weight Matters
Adhesive is sized for small profiles carrying light cable. For 60x40 mm and larger, or a bundle of power cable, use mechanical fixings.
Practical Method
Cut the base to length, offer it up dry to check the line, peel back a short section of liner, set the start point, then release the rest as you press along the run. Load the cable and clip the cover last.

Is the adhesive supplied fitted or separate?
Both. Trunking can be supplied with double sided tape already applied, and the tape is also sold separately for buyers who apply it themselves.
Will the tape hold a 60x40 mm profile?
Not reliably once the channel is loaded. Screw fix the larger sections.
