Size And Thickness

Larger or thicker coins use more metal and require deeper die strikes. Standard sizes range from 1 inch to 2 inches in diameter. Thickness affects weight and durability. Thicker coins feel more substantial but cost more to produce.

Plating Finish

Plating adds visual finish and protection. Options include polished gold silver bronze or antique. Each finish is applied after the coin is struck and requires separate electroplating steps. The same die can be plated in different finishes for gold silver and bronze variants.

Enamel Coverage

Enamel fills the recessed areas of the coin. Soft enamel leaves metal edges proud and is less expensive. Hard enamel is polished flat and feels smoother but requires extra polishing time and cost. Full coverage means every recess is filled; partial coverage leaves some metal exposed.

Edge Cut

The edge can be smooth, reeded, or scalloped. Smooth edges are standard. Reeded edges add texture and cost more due to additional die work. Scalloped edges are custom and require a separate tooling step.

3D Relief
