Five Groups Instead Of One Long List

A shovel parts list that arrives as two hundred unsorted lines takes longer to price than the same list sorted into groups. These are the five we use, and they line up with how the machine is actually maintained.

Structure Parts

The fabricated and cast structures that carry digging loads. Booms, dippers, handles and saddle blocks sit here. We can provide the same quality standards products with shovel OEM suppliers.

Gearing Parts

Gear, pinion and shaft. This is where most of the saving on a rebuild appears, because gearing from Chinese manufacturers has a particularly favourable price to performance ratio.

Undercarriage Parts

Crawler shoes, rollers, idlers, tumblers and pins. Highly cost effective undercarriage parts can replace OE parts completely, which matters because undercarriage is a constant spend rather than an occasional one.

Electrical Parts

Relay, contactor, diode, thyristor, switch, reactor, fuse and resistor. We can identify the OEM part number for these items and source them from first level distributors, which is usually faster than trying to read a component label that has been in a hot cabinet for fifteen years.

Consumable Parts

Bearing, oil seal, filter, wire rope, GET, motor brush, bushing, sleeve, pin, valve, pump, cylinder, lube system and hydraulic system components. These are predictable and should be ordered against a schedule.

The P&H Exception

On P&H machines it is often more natural to talk about the crowd system, the hoist system and the propel system, because that is how the maintenance plan is written. The parts we provide cover all three. Either way of grouping the list works.

Putting A List Together

1. Sort the list by group before sending it.
2. Put the machine model and serial number against each line, or at the top if the whole list is for one machine.
3. Mark which lines are shutdown critical and which are stock replenishment.
4. Give one required on site date per group rather than per line where you can.
