Ports And Container Terminals

Berthed vessels burn fuel in auxiliary engines unless the quay can hand them power at the frequency and voltage their switchboard expects. That is a conversion problem, not a cable problem.

Pain Points

  • The port grid runs at one frequency and calling vessels expect another
  • Emission and noise limits at the berth tighten faster than the electrical infrastructure is upgraded
  • Harmonic limits imposed by the utility restrict what rectifier front end may be installed
  • There is no substation space left on the quay apron

What The Specification Has To Deliver

  • Conversion capacity sized per berth
  • Outdoor rated housing
  • Tight voltage regulation under stepped load
  • Local harmonic compliance

FAQ

Questions Buyers Ask

How do we size a converter for a berth?

Size on the peak simultaneous hotel load of the vessels that call, then choose a standard rating from 1000 kVA to 4000 kVA above it.

Can you meet the port harmonic limit?

The rectifier front end is selected per site. A 12 pulse rectifier holds input current THD at 6 percent or less and a PWM rectifier at 5 percent or less.

Discuss A Ports And Container Terminals Requirement

Send the electrical data and the site constraints and we will size the equipment against them.
