Stainless Steel Fountain Door Frame Sculpture in San Francisco
A 240 by 120 cm mirror polished SS304 door frame standing in an outdoor pool, so the water surface doubles the form and the frame reads as a portal from either bank.
Project Record
A door frame set over water is a demanding piece to polish, because a mirror surface shows every ripple of the pool back at the viewer and every weld line along the frame. The published record for this project gives the size as 240 by 120 cm, the material as SS304 and the surface as mirror polishing. Frames of this proportion are usually built as a welded shell over an internal skeleton, then ground back and polished after assembly so the joint disappears rather than being polished flat before the frame is closed.
