Swirling Painted Stainless Steel Sphere Sculpture in Toronto
A 180 by 240 cm SS304 sphere sculpture finished by spray process rather than left mirror bright, so the swirl reads as colour and movement against a garden setting.
Project Record
Painted stainless steel is a different discipline from mirror polished. The shell still has to be formed and welded to the same tolerance, because a sprayed finish hides nothing about the underlying curve, but the surface preparation runs to a key for the coating rather than to a polish. The record for this piece gives the size as 180 by 240 cm, SS304 as the material and a spray process as the finish.
