Stainless Steel Octopus Sculpture in San Francisco
A 165 by 140 by 120 cm stainless steel 304 octopus for an indoor hotel and apartment setting, where eight limbs each need their own formed and welded shell.
Project Record
A figurative piece with many limbs is the hardest kind of shell to build, because each limb is a compound curve that has to meet the body without a visible seam. The published record gives the size as 165 by 140 by 120 cm and the material as stainless steel 304. Work of this kind starts from a scaled clay or digital model rather than straight from a drawing.
