QK3310 Solvent-Free Polymer Dispersant

100% active dispersant for epoxy and UV systems, with no risk of resin crosslinking and strong anti-float behaviour.

Positioned against EFKA 4310

Product Overview

QK3310 is a 100% active polymer dispersant for organic pigment, carbon black and inorganic pigment. It is aimed at epoxy and UV systems and at highly polar formulations generally. Two things define it: it does not cause resin crosslinking, which is the usual failure mode for reactive dispersants in epoxy and UV, and its resistance to floating and flooding is very good.

Key Benefits

  • 100% active, so no solvent is carried into a solvent-free or UV formulation
  • Does not cause resin crosslinking, which keeps pot life and cure predictable
  • Excellent resistance to floating and flooding in mixed shades
  • Broad resin versatility and stability
  • Handles organic pigment, carbon black and inorganic pigment in the same system

Who It Is For

  • Epoxy system formulators
  • UV coating and ink producers
  • Plants running solvent-free lines that cannot accept added solvent

Problems It Solves

  • Dispersants that react into an epoxy or UV system and disturb cure
  • Floating and flooding streaks in mixed shades
  • Adding solvent to a formulation that is sold as solvent-free

Application Scenarios

  • Epoxy floor and tank lining systems
  • UV-cured coatings and inks
  • Highly polar solvent-free formulations
  • Mixed shades where floating shows as streaking

Technical Features

  • 100% active polymer with a valid portion above 99.0%
  • Acid value 5-15 mg KOH/g
  • Density approximately 1.06 g/ml at 20C
  • Dosage is calculated as a percentage of the pigment added during grinding

Recommended Dosage

All dispersant and additive dosage figures below are quoted exactly as the source data sheet quotes them. Dispersant figures are percentages on pigment weight, not on the total batch. The published values are empirical, so confirm the optimum with a dosage ladder in your own system.

Inorganic pigments2-5%
Organic pigments10-20%
Titanium dioxide2-4%
Carbon black20-30%

Use Guide

  • Add during the grinding process. The recommended amount is a percentage of the pigment added.
  • Store in a cool dry place; shelf life is two years in the unopened original container.
  • Confirm pot life in a two-component epoxy before committing a production batch.

Quality Control On Your Side

  • Check pot life and cure on the full two-component system, not on the mill base alone
  • Rub-out test on mixed shades to confirm anti-float performance
  • Verify colour strength against reference at the set dosage
Comparison

How It Compares With The Alternatives

Technical comparison against other ways of solving the same problem. Nothing here is a performance claim against a named commercial product.

QK3340QK3340 is 45% active in PMA for alkyd and acrylic; QK3310 is 100% active for epoxy and UV.
QK3740Both are 100% active; QK3740 is written for waterborne systems, QK3310 for epoxy and UV.
Reactive dispersantDoes not cause resin crosslinking, so pot life and cure stay where the formulation put them.

Questions

QK3310 Solvent-Free Polymer Dispersant Questions

Will QK3310 affect epoxy cure?
The data sheet states it will not cause resin crosslinking and has high safety performance. Confirm pot life on your own two-component system before production.
Which systems is it mainly recommended for?
Epoxy systems and UV systems, and highly polar systems generally.
How is dosage calculated?
As a percentage of the pigment added during the grinding process.
What is the shelf life?
Two years from the production date when stored unopened in a cool dry place.
