Four Years of Developing New Products Together
A brand that has worked with us for around four years and describes the relationship as a business partnership rather than a supplier arrangement.
The Challenge
A growing brand runs out of range before it runs out of demand. New products have to be developed continuously, and each new idea brings a construction problem that has to be solved before it can be sewn at all.
Customer Pain Points
- New product ideas stall when no supplier will engage before a large order exists
- Construction problems get discovered late, at sample stage or after launch
- Ideas from the brand side need someone on the factory floor to translate them into a pattern
- Range extensions have to match the existing products in fabric and colour
What We Did
We take part in the development rather than waiting for a finished specification. Ideas come from both sides, constructions are proposed against what can actually be sewn, and problems are worked through before they become production failures.
How the Work Was Run
Stage 1
Concept discussed against constructions we already sew
Stage 2
Pattern and construction adjusted to make the idea manufacturable
Stage 3
Sewn sample made and revised until the fit is right
Stage 4
New item matched in fabric and colour to the existing range
Supply Chain
Every product in the range is made in the same two factories, so a new item can be cut from the same approved fabric as the products already selling.
Quality Control
Each new construction gets its own check points defined at sample stage, which then apply to the bulk run.
The Result
The client's own published comment: after around four years they see us as a business partner rather than a supplier, working with them to come up with new product ideas and to resolve challenges.
We've been working with Joi for going on 4 years now and we don't see her as just a supplier but as a business partner. They works with us to come up with new product ideas and helps to resolve challenges.Mark
Customer Benefit
The brand can extend its range on its own schedule instead of waiting for a supplier to be persuaded, and each extension matches what is already on the shelf.
