Step 1 Prepare the Aluminium Alloy Bars

There are 18 aluminium alloy bars in four lengths: 4 pieces of 1540 mm, 6 pieces of 1400 mm, 4 pieces of 980 mm and 4 pieces of 770 mm. They ship in a flat package inside a fumigation free wooden box, so counting them against this list is the first job.

Step 2 Prepare the Assembling Accessories

There are 40 metal assembling accessories in total, delivered with the bars. Each accessory consists of one triangular gadget and two screws.

Step 3 Find the 5 mm Allen Key

Take the biggest 5 mm Allen key from the toolkit. It installs and tightens the screws for all 40 accessories, so keep it with the job rather than back in the drawer.

Step 4 Build the First Rectangle

Assemble 4 bars into a rectangle: 2 pieces of 1540 mm and 2 pieces of 980 mm, using 8 accessories.

Step 5 Build the Second Rectangle

Repeat with another 2 pieces of 1540 mm and 2 pieces of 980 mm, again using 8 accessories, to give a matching second rectangle.

Step 6 Build the Bottom Frame

Assemble 5 bars, 3 pieces of 1400 mm and 2 pieces of 770 mm, using 8 accessories. Direction matters here: the left and right bars run vertically and the middle 3 bars run horizontally.

Step 7 Build the Top Frame

Repeat the same arrangement with the remaining 5 bars, 3 pieces of 1400 mm and 2 pieces of 770 mm, using 8 accessories, to give a matching top frame.

Before You Load a Machine

Assemble on a level floor and tighten every joint before any machine is lifted onto the frame. A sign printer is a 95 to 220 kg class machine depending on model, and a frame that is level and tight is the difference between a stable print and a visible defect.
