A newly built 3,500 m2 low-temperature cold storage facility with 6.5 m internal height, designed at minus 18 to minus 25 degrees Celsius for beef, lamb and seafood.
Layout
Six rooms plus a shipping platform held at 5-10 degrees. Splitting the volume into six chambers rather than one lets the operator run only what is loaded, keep products separated, and take a room out for cleaning or service without shutting down the site.
Programme
| Stage | Duration |
|---|---|
| Steel structure construction | 40 days |
| Insulation and equipment installation | 70 days |
| Cooling commissioning | 10-15 days |
Roughly 120 days from first steel to handover. The commissioning window at the end is not padding: a freezer of this size needs a controlled pull-down, and the pull-down curve is where design assumptions get checked against reality.
Why the shipping platform is conditioned
A 5-10 degree platform between the chambers and the dock means product is never exposed to ambient during loading. On a minus 25 degree store in a warm climate, that buffer protects both product temperature and the energy budget.
Equipment on projects of this type comes from Howcool's own production: panels, doors, refrigeration plant and control cabinets under one EPC contract.
Quick Answers
How long does a 3,500 m2 freezer take to build?
On this project, 40 days for steel structure, 70 days for insulation and equipment installation, and 10-15 days for cooling commissioning.
Why divide the volume into six rooms?
Separate chambers allow partial operation, product separation and servicing without shutting the whole facility down.
What temperature was it designed for?
Minus 18 to minus 25 degrees Celsius for beef, lamb and seafood, with a 5-10 degree shipping platform.
