Background And Requirement
A 500-ton CA cold storage built for a Kazakh apple-growing cooperative in the Almaty region. Kazakhstan's Aport apple variety is world-renowned for its flavour and keeping quality, but was traditionally sold only during the 3-month harvest season due to lack of long-term storage. This CA facility transforms the business model into year-round supply.
Howcool handled full EPC: engineering in Beijing, container shipment of all equipment, on-site installation by our Kazakhstan-based team in Almaty, and local operator training. The entire project — from first drawing to operational handover — was 150 days including international shipping.
This project established Howcool's physical presence in Central Asia. Our Kazakhstan office in Almaty (64A Utegen Batyr Street) now provides ongoing service, spare parts, and support for this and subsequent regional projects.

How The Project Was Delivered

Engineering (Beijing)
CA parameters specific to Aport apple variety. 500-ton capacity with 4 partition rooms. Design adapted for Kazakh electrical standards (380V/50Hz, TN-S earthing).

Container Shipment
All equipment packed in 5 shipping containers. Rail transport Beijing → Almaty (14 days). Customs clearance handled by Howcool's Kazakhstan team.

On-Site Installation
Howcool's Almaty-based team installed panels, doors, refrigeration, CA equipment. 60 days on site. Local civil contractor built the shell under Howcool's supervision.

Training & Handover
Kazakh-language operator manual. 2-week training of cooperative's maintenance staff. Ongoing support from Almaty office.
