Product Overview
The Button Version Bias Airway Buffs Forming Machine forms ventilated airway buffing wheels, also known as ventilated sisal buffs, airflow buffs, or bias airway buffs, with outer diameters from 200 mm to 750 mm. It takes prepared bias fabric or sisal and an iron claw or iron plate, then folds, indexes, and clamps the material into a finished wheel body. One operator runs the machine. It is the forming step in a four-machine line: bias cutting on a CRA-500, forming here, pressing on a CRA-600, and edge trimming on a CRA-700.
Key Benefits
- One operator replaces a bench of hand folders on the airway wheel forming step
- Covers 200 to 750 mm diameter range, extending beyond standard 600 mm limits
- Runs soft or resin treated fabric and sisal on the same machine
- Rated output up to 5000 pieces per day on a full shift pattern
- Buttons control system reduces maintenance effort, lowers cost, and allows faster operation
- Customizable electrical system for local voltage, including 220V, 3-phase, with less static disturbance from cloth materials
Application Scenarios
- A buffing wheel factory upgrading from manual forming to automated folding for larger diameter wheels
- An abrasive distributor expanding in-house production to reduce reliance on imported airway buffs
- A workshop producing 500 to 750 mm wheels for large-scale metal polishing applications
- A facility already using a CRA-500 bias cutter and needing the forming step with lower maintenance and faster setup
Who It Is For
- Buffing and polishing wheel manufacturers
- Abrasive product makers adding a ventilated wheel range
- Metal finishing groups that consume their own buffs in volume
- Distributors in markets where imported airway buffs carry high freight cost
Problems It Solves
- Hand formed airway wheels vary in ply spacing so finish quality drifts between operators
- Manual folding limits daily output and ties up several workers per shift
- Buying finished airway buffs abroad adds freight and lead time to every reorder
- Changing wheel diameter by hand means retraining rather than a clamp change
- Touch screen systems require more maintenance and higher cost; buttons offer simpler control
Technical Features
- Hydraulic system with left and right cylinders acting on the trestle and turntable
- Left and right upper spandex clamps hold the material stack during indexing
- Circuit board and pressure gauge on a single control panel with button interface
- Turntable indexes the wheel body between folds so ply spacing repeats
- Cutter section trims the formed body before it leaves the machine
- Adjustable batching speed so soft fabric and hard treated sisal both run stable

Materials
- Soft untreated cotton fabric
- Resin treated fabric in yellow, blue, green or red
- Sisal cloth and sisal stitched with cloth
- Iron claw centres in 3 inch, 5 inch, and 7 inch
- Iron plate centres with round hole or hexagon hole
Manufacturing And Process
Step 1
Prepare bias fabric or sisal rolls, on a CRA-500 bias cutting and rolling machine or an equivalent
Step 2
Load the roll and select the iron claw or iron plate for the wheel centre
Step 3
Set the batching speed and clamp set for the target outer diameter
Step 4
The turntable indexes and the cylinders fold and clamp each ply onto the centre
Step 5
The formed body is trimmed and unloaded, then goes to pressing on a CRA-600
Step 6
Edge cutting on a CRA-700 gives the finished wheel its running face
Quality Control
- Hydraulic pressure held at 7 MPa on both moulding and finishing so ply density repeats
- Sample wheels formed and checked before the machine ships
- Free sample testing on the buyer's own fabric or sisal before purchase
- Installation and operation training given so the first production run is supervised
Customization Options
- Voltage and phase configured for the destination market, including 220V, 3-phase
- Clamp sets supplied for the diameter bands the buyer actually sells
- Iron claw or iron plate tooling matched to the buyer's existing centres
- Machine can be quoted as part of a CRA-500, Button Version CRA-800, CRA-600, CRA-700 line
Compared With The Alternatives
| CRA-800 Touch Screen Type Bias Airway Buffs Forming Machine | The Button Version has easier maintenance, lower cost, and faster operation; touch screen systems require more upkeep and higher investment |
|---|---|
| CRA-300 Airway Buffs Forming Iris Machine | The CRA-300 covers 100 to 250 mm wheels; choose it for small jewellery and bench grinder sizes and the Button Version for 200 to 750 mm production wheels |
| Manual airway wheel folding | Hand folding needs no capital outlay but cannot hold ply spacing across operators or reach 5000 pieces a day |
Use Guide
- Confirm your incoming fabric or sisal is cut on the bias before forming; straight cut material will not fold evenly
- Change the clamp set to move to another diameter band; a set change takes about the same effort as a tooling swap and is not a daily operation
- Keep the hydraulic pressure gauge at the set 7 MPa; a drop shows in loose ply spacing before it shows in the wheel diameter
- Send the formed bodies to pressing the same shift so the ply stack does not relax
- Contact us on WhatsApp for the English operation video if the operator is new to airway forming
Button Version Bias Airway Buffs Forming Machine FAQ
What diameter of airway buffs can this machine make?
From 200 mm to 750 mm outer diameter. For 100 to 250 mm wheels use the CRA-300 iris machine instead.
How many people are needed to run it?
One operator. The clamping, indexing and trimming are handled by the machine's hydraulic and control system.
What is the daily output?
Up to 5000 pieces per day at maximum rate. Real output depends on diameter, ply count and material.
Do I need other machines to make a finished wheel?
Yes. Bias fabric preparation comes before forming, and pressing and edge cutting come after. We supply the CRA-600 and CRA-700 for those steps.
What is the lead time?
5 to 15 workdays if the machine is in stock, otherwise 15 to 60 workdays depending on quantity and model.
What are the payment terms?
Orders up to 10000 USD are 100% in advance. Above 10000 USD it is 30% T/T deposit with the balance before shipment.
Can you test my own fabric before I buy?
Yes, sample testing is free. You cover the freight and send the specific material you plan to run.
