What It Is and What It Does

This set of four universal solar panel corner mounts can be used with any aluminium framed solar panel that has a lateral length of 150 mm. The brackets take the four corners of the module and bond directly to the mounting surface, which is what makes them usable on a vehicle roof where a through-bolt is not an option.

The corner brackets hold the panel at the optimum height above the surface so air can move underneath it. A module that cannot shed heat loses output, so the air gap is not cosmetic — it is part of how the panel keeps performing on a hot roof. The mouldings also protect the panel corners, which is where a framed module is most easily damaged in transit and in service.

Materials and manufacture

What It Is Made From

Moulded from UV-resistant ABS. ABS is used here for the same reason the vehicle industry uses it on exterior trim: it holds its shape and colour under sunlight, it takes an adhesive bond well, and it is light enough that four of them add almost nothing to the roof load.
