Medium Voltage Distribution
A distribution network is thousands of identical decisions repeated across a service area. The unit price matters, but the failure rate multiplied by the truck roll matters more.
What gets in the way
The four problems this sector brings us
Punctures instead of flashovers
A punctured pin insulator destroys the pin and crossarm and leaves an invisible fault. The P-6T is published at 95 kV power frequency puncture against a 30 kV wet withstand, so it is built to flash over externally first.
Creepage running out as land use changes
Farmland becomes industrial and a 195 mm creepage path is suddenly marginal. The R12.5ET125N line post gives 400 mm in the same position.
Radio interference near communications
Both the P-6T and the R12.5ET125N publish maximum radio influence voltage figures, 50 and 100 microvolts at 1000 kHz respectively.
Volume supply without quality drift
Robotic shaping and computer-controlled firing are what keep batch fifty the same as batch one on an order of tens of thousands.

Medium Voltage Distribution: questions we are asked
Which is better for a 10 kV line, pin type or line post?
The pin type is the economical choice on clean runs. The line post is the answer when pollution drives creepage or when mechanical stiffness at angles decides. The creepage difference is 195 mm against 400 mm.
Can you supply pins, clamps and tie wire as well?
Yes, quoted alongside the insulators. Send the crossarm drilling and conductor size.
What spare ratio should a distribution utility order?
Industry practice is 3 to 5 % spares at the time of supply, plus 1 to 2 % per year reserved for maintenance replacement.
Working on a medium voltage distribution project?
Send the line data and quantity schedule. Our engineers will come back with a selection, a documentation package and a delivered price.
