First Export Shipment to Saudi Arabia During the 2020 Lockdown

The Challenge

The order was placed while Saudi Arabia was under lockdown in April 2020. The customer needed the goods to move anyway, at a point when almost nothing else was moving and when a new supplier had no shipping history to point to.

• Lockdown conditions at the destination made receiving goods uncertain
• A single item order gives a supplier no room to hide a mistake
• A new supplier had no completed shipment to be judged on
• Grey paper for garment making is bulky and easy to damage in transit

What We Did

The order was taken as it was, one item and no padding, and shipped on 17 April 2020. It was the company's first export shipment.

• Packed and dispatched to Saudi Arabia during the lockdown period

Supply Chain

The consignment was consolidated and dispatched from China to Saudi Arabia while lockdown restrictions were in force at the destination.

Quality Control

Stable quality on a single item and a delivery that did not slip were the only two things the order could be judged on, and they were what the customer had asked for.

Result

The shipment left on 17 April 2020 and became the company's first completed export order.

What The Customer Got Out Of It

The customer received the goods during a period when supply into the market had largely stopped, and the order established a working relationship that the rest of the range was later built on.
