Start From the Webbing, Not the Hardware

Every strap hardware dimension on this site is an inner width, which is the gap the webbing or the leather tab has to pass through. Measure the strap first, then buy every part at that figure. A 25 mm strap needs a 25 mm hook, a 25 mm ring and a 25 mm slider, and the outside dimensions of those three parts will all be different.

Woven Width Is Not Nominal Width

Webbing sold as 38 mm often measures 37 mm or 39 mm depending on the mill and the weave. If a slider feels loose on your webbing while the drawing says it is correct, this is usually why. Send a metre of your actual webbing with the enquiry and the inner width can be cut to it instead of to the nominal figure.

Match the Hook to the Ring It Clips Into

A hook throat and a ring section have to be considered together. A hook with a 25 mm inner width will not sit cleanly on a ring made from a thick 6 mm bar, because the gate closes on the bar rather than behind it. If you already buy the ring elsewhere, send it and the hook can be cast around it.

Decide the Adjuster Type Before the Size

A fixed tri-glide is slimmer and cheaper. A moving bar slider grips coated and laminated webbing that a tri-glide lets slip. Choose the type from the webbing surface, then pick the width.

Order the Whole Set in One Batch

Hook, ring, slider and buckle should be ordered together so they go through the plating line at the same time. This is the single most effective thing a buyer can do to stop a sample arriving with three shades of the same gold.
