Installing WPC and PVC Wall Panels Without Callbacks

Start from a plumb line, not from a corner

Corners are rarely square and walls are rarely plumb. Setting out from the corner pushes the error along the run until the last panel has to be scribed to a taper. Strike a plumb line, set the first panel to it, and take the discrepancy at the corner where a trim covers it.

Check the substrate before the first panel goes up

Panels follow what is behind them. On an uneven wall, batten out and shim to a flat plane first. A wide 210mm panel shows a hollow that a narrow panel would hide, so the wider the module, the more the substrate matters.

Fixing method by panel type

Interior WPC and PS panels fix to a flat wall or batten grid with construction adhesive, or mechanically to battens. Side slotted panels engage each other along the edge, so each panel is set into the previous one before fixing. PVC ceiling panels slide together on a ceiling keel.

Expansion, and why it matters indoors too

Composite boards move slightly with temperature. Leave a gap at panel ends and at abutments and cover it with trim rather than fitting hard against the ceiling and the floor. Outdoors this stops being optional: leave expansion gaps at every board end and keep a drainage cavity behind the cladding.

Keep the grain direction consistent

Veneer and printed grain have a direction. A panel installed the other way up reads as a different colour under raking light. Mark the top of each panel before cutting and keep the run consistent, especially when panels come from more than one bundle.

Trims are part of the order, not an afterthought

Internal and external corners, panel ends, ceiling and skirting junctions all need a profile. Send the corner and end conditions with the panel quantity so the trims arrive in the same shipment; sourcing them locally afterwards rarely matches.
