Plate Size and Thickness Guide

Zinc plate

Coated zinc: 1000 x 500 mm and 1000 x 510 mm as stock sizes, 0.8 to 3.0 mm thick, other sizes to request.

Uncoated polished zinc: the same two stock sizes, 0.8 to 7.0 mm thick. Polished from 0.8 to 3.0 mm and non-polished from 3.5 to 7.0 mm.

Magnesium plate

Coated magnesium: 500 x 1000 mm, 610 x 457 mm and 610 x 914 mm, 1.0 to 10 mm thick, other sizes to request.

Uncoated highly polished magnesium: length up to 2000 mm, width up to 1500 mm, minimum thickness 0.5 mm.

Brass and copper

Brass for CNC engraving: maximum 2000 mm long and 400 mm wide, 0.7 to 50 mm thick, supplied unpolished with around +0.13 mm thickness deviation left as grinding allowance.

Mirror-surfaced copper: maximum 2000 mm long and 600 mm wide, in 1.0 mm, 1.4 mm, 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm.

Magnesium tooling plate

Common thickness 100 mm to 1000 mm, or to a customer requirement. Supplied polished, with thickness and flatness tolerance controlled, and specified for service from 350 degrees Fahrenheit down to minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Reading the table

The widest plate SGZ makes is uncoated magnesium at 1500 mm. The longest is 2000 mm, on magnesium, brass and copper. The thickest thin-gauge plate is coated magnesium at 10 mm; past that you are into brass at 50 mm or tooling plate at 100 mm and up.
