Brass Plate for CNC Engraving
Brass engraving plate, 0.7-50 mm, to 2000x400 mm, supplied with a +0.13 mm grinding allowance.
Overview
What This Product Is
SGZ Brass Plate is cut specifically for CNC engraving rather than for general fabrication. It is supplied unpolished with around +0.13 mm on thickness, so the shop can grind or polish the blank flat on its own machine before the cutter touches it.
Grinding allowance built in
Around +0.13 mm thickness deviation, deliberately left for grinding and polishing.
Saves cutter life
The plate is specified for engraving, which helps knife life on long runs.
Wide gauge range
0.7 mm through to 50 mm.
Long blanks
Up to 2000 mm long and 400 mm wide.
Who it is for
Buyers Who Specify It
CNC engraving job shops
Shops that grind their own blanks and want the allowance left on.
Trophy, plaque and signage engravers
Work where the brass stays visible in the finished part.
Hot-stamping die makers
Brass dies for foil stamping on paper, leather and plastics.
Mould and electrode shops
Brass stock for engraved inserts and electrodes.
Problems it solves
What Goes Wrong Without It
- Plate delivered at final thickness leaves nothing to correct a warped blank. SGZ leaves around +0.13 mm so you can grind it flat.
- Brass that is not specified for engraving wears cutters faster. This grade is chosen for engraving performance and knife life.
- Sourcing a single thickness limits what you can quote. This plate covers 0.7 mm to 50 mm.
- Shops that do not know how to take the allowance off get a poor finish, so SGZ publishes a grinding and polishing video.

Comparison
How It Compares With the Alternatives
Polished Copper Plate for Photoengraving and Etching
Copper is mirror polished and bought for chemical etching in ferric chloride. Brass is unpolished and bought for mechanical engraving.
Polished Zinc Plate for Engraving and Etching
Zinc is softer and cheaper per sheet and is used where the plate is a tool. Brass is used where the engraved brass itself is the product.
Use Guide
- Grind or polish the blank on your own machine first; the +0.13 mm is there for that.
- Set your datum from the ground face, not from the as-delivered surface.
- Engrave with your normal brass tooling and feeds.
- SGZ publishes a grinding and polishing video for shops new to this plate.
