Oil-lubricated compressors are simple. They are also a contamination source. Recovered SF6 that picks up oil becomes a lab problem and, in the worst case, a reason the owner refuses to put the gas back into a GIS.
An oil-less recovery system keeps lubricant out of the process stream. GNR’s compressor line is built as a complete oil-less piston machine with a gas-tight sealing arrangement and air cooling — the same architecture used when the gas is SF6, helium or another noble gas that cannot tolerate oil carry-over.
If the duty is only to move gas into a scrap cylinder for destruction, oil-less is still cleaner. If the duty is reuse, oil-less is the requirement.
