Commissioning Checklist For Commercial Solar and Storage

Before energising

Verify string voltages against the inverter MPPT window at the site's record low temperature, confirm polarity on every string, check terminal torque against the manual and confirm the grid code setting matches the destination market.

Battery and communication

Confirm the battery firmware version and the inverter handshake over CAN or RS485. Check that state of charge reported by the battery and by the inverter agree before anybody leaves the site.

Protection and transfer

Test anti-islanding, residual-current monitoring and - where backup is part of the scope - the transfer to island mode with the actual critical loads connected, not with a test load.

Monitoring and baseline

Commission the monitoring interface on the same visit rather than as a follow-up trip, and record the baseline configuration and firmware versions. This record is what any later performance question is measured against.

Handover

Walk the site team through the control logic, the dispatch schedule and what normal looks like on the monitoring screen. A system nobody on site understands becomes a maintenance liability.
