Keeping a Tiled Pool and Bathroom Looking New
Most tile that looks tired is not worn out — it is scaled, filmed with the wrong cleaner, or grouted with something that was never going to survive pool chemistry.
The waterline is a chemistry problem
Scale and body oils collect exactly at the waterline, which is why that band looks dull first. Regular gentle cleaning beats occasional aggressive cleaning; abrasive pads on a gloss glass chip leave a haze that no amount of later polishing removes.
What not to use
Avoid abrasive powders on gloss finishes and avoid strong acids on grout. If a specialist product is needed for scale, test it on a spare sheet or on a hidden area first — this is the second good reason to keep spare tile from the original order.
Grout does more of the work than the tile
In pools and showers, failures usually start in the joint rather than in the tile body. Specify a grout suited to continuous immersion in pool work, and keep an eye on movement joints at corners and step nosings.
Bathroom and kitchen surfaces
Matt ceramic hides water spotting better than gloss; gloss cleans faster but shows everything. Neither needs sealing. A soft cloth and a neutral cleaner is the whole maintenance routine for a glazed wall.

Does glass mosaic scratch easily?
Glass mosaic is fired and hard-wearing, but abrasive cleaning tools will dull a gloss finish. Use a soft brush or cloth.
How do I remove scale at the waterline?
Gently and regularly, with a product suited to the tile finish, tested first on a spare sheet. Scale removed weekly needs nothing aggressive; scale left for a season does.
Will the colour change over time?
Colour in crystal glass mosaic sits in the body of the chip rather than on the surface. For a specific series, ask us what the manufacturer states before committing a large exposed area.
