WiFi Connects Directly to the Site Router

The Tuya WiFi models join a 2.4GHz network and appear in the Tuya SmartLife app with no extra hardware. This is the cheapest route where a router already exists and covers the board position. If the router is down the protection still works, but remote control does not.

Zigbee Needs a Gateway and Gives a Mesh

The Zigbee smart MCB and Zigbee wall switches join a Zigbee network through a gateway. That costs an extra device but gives a mesh that reaches boards and switches a router cannot, and keeps many devices off the WiFi network. This suits installations with many controlled points in one building.

4G Works Where There Is No Network

The 4G RS485 RCBO connects over the mobile network. For a pump house, a feeder pillar or a field cabinet with no local WiFi this is the only one of the three that will report at all. The RS485 port also allows a wired connection into an existing control system.

Ecosystem Compatibility

The Tuya based devices work with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT through the Tuya platform, so the same breaker fits into automation a customer has already built.

Practical Selection

One building with a good router and a handful of controlled circuits suits WiFi. A building with many switches and breakers suits Zigbee. Remote unattended sites need 4G. Many projects use more than one.
