A Buyers Checklist for Sourcing Low Voltage Devices

What to ask a supplier before the first order, written from the questions we are actually asked.

Ask Which Standard the Device Is Built To

A model list means little without the standard. Ask for the standard against each model. On this range the AC miniature breakers are stated to GB10963.1 and IEC60898-1, and the arc fault devices to IEC62606. If a supplier cannot state the standard per model, that is the first thing to resolve.

Separate the Ratings That Matter

Rated current, pole count, trip curve, breaking capacity and rated voltage are five separate questions. A quote that lists only current and price is not comparable with one that lists all five.

Check the Smart Platform Before the Hardware

If the device is smart, the platform decides whether it fits the customer installed base. Tuya SmartLife, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT and Zigbee are all in play. A breaker that works but does not appear in the customer app is a returned order.

Confirm What ODM Actually Covers

Branding can mean a printed housing, printed packaging, a manual in your language or all three. Agree which before sampling and keep the model list and artwork in one document.

Sample Before You Scale

Take a small first order, pair it in the target app and fit it in a real board. Most problems that appear at scale are visible in a sample if it is installed rather than left in the box.

Ask for the Missing Documents Early

Certification files, test reports and datasheets take time to assemble. Ask for them with the quotation rather than after the order. Email [email protected] with the model list you are considering.
