Solution

Cold Chain Scanning

Cold-chain operations usually scan at the door because the hardware cannot survive inside. That forces pallets out of temperature to be read, which costs energy and breaks the chain record.

How to choose

Four decisions, in order

1

Check the rated range, not the marketing

A scanner rated to 0°C will fail in a freezer aisle within weeks. The cold-chain units here are rated to -30°C and -20°C.

2

Seal and drop-rate the mobile devices

IP67 sealing and drop resistance matter more in a cold store, where condensation and gloved handling are constant.

3

Buffer the data

Cold stores are RF-hostile. Offline storage from 900k of records upward keeps counting through dead zones.

4

Fix the static points

Angle-adjustable desktop readers rated to -30°C let a scanning station live at the pick face.

Questions

About cold chain scanning

Where does cold chain scanning usually go wrong?
Almost always at step one. A scanner rated to 0°C will fail in a freezer aisle within weeks. The cold-chain units here are rated to -30°C and -20°C.
Which model would you start with for cold chain scanning?
The PF1501 Cold Chain Desktop Barcode Reader, for the reasons set out on its specification page. The other three models on this page cover the adjacent positions.
Can the cold chain scanning hardware be customised?
OEM and ODM are supported with experienced engineers, and for some products the software can be customised as well. Mini and mix orders are accepted so the approach can be piloted first.
