A 3,000 m2 cold-chain logistics warehouse has been completed, providing food cold-chain logistics between major Chinese cities — transportation, storage and sorting under one roof.

Multi-temperature by design

The facility uses a multi-temperature-zone design to serve diverse food product lines. A distribution operator rarely controls what its customers ship; the building has to accept frozen, chilled and controlled-ambient goods in whatever proportion arrives that week.

Sorting is a refrigeration load

Transit and sorting operations generate heat and open doors constantly. Sizing the plant for storage volume alone underestimates the real load; door traffic, forklift heat and the sorting area itself all have to be counted.

Throughput over volume

  • Dock and door selection sized for the movement rate, not the pallet count
  • Separate plant staging per temperature zone
  • Layout that keeps sorting traffic out of long-term storage aisles
  • Logged temperature history across zones for customer assurance

For larger distribution facilities, see the 50,000 m3 two-stage Wuhan Xinpu project in our case studies.

Quick Answers

What does this facility handle?

Food cold-chain logistics between major Chinese cities, including transportation, storage and sorting.

Why a multi-temperature design?

A distribution operator receives frozen, chilled and controlled-ambient goods in varying proportions and needs separate zones to serve them.

How is the plant sized for a sorting operation?

Door traffic, forklift heat and the sorting area are counted in the heat load alongside the storage volume.
