What R10 Covers

UN ECE Regulation 10 is about electromagnetic compatibility. It checks that a device fitted to a vehicle neither emits electromagnetic interference beyond defined limits nor stops working when exposed to it. On an LED lamp that is a test of the driver electronics, not of the beam.

Why It Matters on a Modern Machine

A tractor cab or a truck dash now carries GPS guidance, telematics, radio and control electronics. A cheap constant current driver that switches without adequate filtering puts noise onto the vehicle supply and into the air around it. The symptoms show up as a guidance system dropping out when the work lights come on, which is a difficult fault to trace back to a lamp.

What R10 Does Not Cover

R10 says nothing about whether a lamp is allowed to be used as a road lighting function. That is set by the function regulations. R23 covers reversing lamps, R112 and R149 cover headlamp functions, R148 covers signalling devices and R87 covers daytime running lamps. A lamp listed with R10 alone is tested for interference, and should be treated as a work lamp rather than a road lighting device.

How to Read a Dantech Spec Sheet

The certificates line on each product page lists what is recorded for that model. Several models in the head light and driving light ranges carry function approvals alongside R10; most work lamps carry R10, CE and RoHS. If a specific approval is a condition of your order, name the regulation number when you enquire rather than asking for E-Mark.
