Specifying Wardrobe Interiors That Match

The Problem Is Sourcing Not Design

Wardrobe interiors rarely fail on design. They fail because the trouser rack came from one supplier, the shoe shelf from another and the hanging rail from a third, and the three greys are three different greys. The customer does not read that as a sourcing decision, they read it as poor quality.

Fix the Colour Family First

Choose the finish before the components. The Winton push pull range, covering the trousers rack, trousers basket, clothes basket and separated box, runs in white, grey and mocha across every unit, so a whole wardrobe interior can be specified in one colour and actually arrive that way.

Then Fix the Cabinet Width

The pull-out units are listed for 600, 700, 800 and 900 mm cabinets with a 460 mm depth. Height is 100 mm on the trousers rack and separated box, and 200 mm on the trousers basket and clothes basket. Those four numbers cover most fitted bay layouts and should be settled before anything else is chosen.

Solve Shoes Vertically

Shoe storage is what usually consumes the base of a wardrobe. The multi-layer rotating shoe shelf turns 360 degrees, is height adjustable in 250 mm steps and is listed in four, six, eight, ten and twelve layers. Its outer frame is aluminium with a blast sanded finish, the shelf boards are ABS engineering plastic, and it runs on a three-section ball bearing slide that its maker rates at 50,000 movement cycles to EU-GS.

Do Not Forget the Ironing Board

An ironing board that has nowhere to live ends up leaning against the wardrobe. The rotating damped ironing board is listed at 800 x 300 x 150 mm on a soft closing slide, which puts it inside the cabinet.

Rail Lighting and Movement

The last three items are the ones that get forgotten at quotation and added at a premium later: aluminium hanging tube in two profiles, sliding door rollers in iron and plastic with a zinc surface, and interior LED strip. Specify them with the interior, not after it.
