Sizing Kitchen Pull-Out Baskets by Cabinet Width

Start From the Carcass Not the Catalogue

The fastest way to end up with unusable stock is to order a basket by its product name. Every pull-out unit is built to run inside a specific carcass width, and a unit that is 50 mm out will not go in. Each Winton kitchen basket is published with the cabinet widths it fits, which means the first number you need is the internal width of the cabinet the basket is going into.

Base Units From 150 mm Upward

Base cabinets cover the widest range. The two tier base basket is listed for 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400 and 500 mm cabinets. The multi basket is listed for 200 to 400 mm. The bread basket covers 300 and 400 mm, the waste bin 400 mm, and the base pantry 450 and 600 mm. The three-side basket handles the wide cabinets at 600, 700, 720, 750, 800 and 900 mm.

Tall Units and Layer Count

Tall pantry and larder units are chosen by width and by layer count. The larder unit is listed for 150, 200, 300, 400, 450 and 500 mm cabinets, and both the pantry and larder units can be built in four, five or six layers. Decide the layer count against the height of the opening and what is actually being stored.

Corner Units Are Four Different Answers

A blind corner is the one place where the cabinet width does not settle the question. The magic corner 10121 fits 800 and 900 mm cabinets at 760 x 500 x 530 mm and 860 x 500 x 530 mm. The super magic 10231 fits 800 and 900 mm at 620 x 485 x 610 mm and 660 x 485 x 610 mm. The swing tray 103327 fits 900 mm at 830 x 440 x 550 mm. The 270 degree revolving basket fits 700, 800 and 900 mm cabinets at diameters of 600, 710 and 800 mm. All are handed left and right, so the handing goes on the order.

Wall Units Above the Sink

Wall mounted units are sized the same way. The stainless steel dish rack is listed for 400 to 900 mm cabinets, the dish holder for 450 to 800 mm, and the pull down basket for 600 to 900 mm with a stated load range of 0-12 kg.

Decide the Closing Action Before You Order

Most of these units are listed with a soft closing function, and several also have a non-soft closing version. The slide hardware is different between the two, so the closing action is part of the specification and not something that can be changed after the unit is built.
