Aluminium Conductor
All aluminium stranded bare conductor for overhead distribution spans

Product Overview
All aluminium conductor is stranded from hard drawn aluminium wires with no steel core. It gives the best conductivity per unit cross section of the three overhead constructions and the lowest tensile strength, which makes it the right answer on short spans where clearance is easy and the wrong one where span length sets the design.
Key Benefits
- Best conductivity per unit cross section of the three bare overhead constructions
- No bimetallic interface, so no galvanic concern at joints
- Lighter than steel reinforced conductor of comparable capacity
- Supplied with the clamps insulators and fittings that terminate it
Problems It Solves
- Paying for tensile strength that the span does not require
- Bimetallic corrosion concerns at joints in aggressive environments
- Conductor supplied without the fittings that terminate it
Application Scenarios
- Short urban distribution spans
- Reconductoring where existing structures set modest tensions
- Distribution work where ground clearance is not the limiting factor
- Service and secondary distribution runs
Who It Is For
- Line construction contractors
- Distribution utilities reconductoring circuits
- Rural distribution projects with short pole spacing
- Wholesalers stocking bare conductor
Technical Features
- Stranded hard drawn aluminium construction
- No steel reinforcing core
- Bare overhead conductor for distribution spans
- Supplied on drums

Compared With Other Options
| ACSR | ACSR adds a steel core to carry tension where aluminium alone cannot hold the span at acceptable sag. |
|---|---|
| AAAC | Aluminium alloy gives more strength without a steel core, at a small conductivity penalty. |
| Insulated bundled cable | Bundled cable removes clearance and contact concerns but costs more per metre and is heavier to string. |
Use Guide
- Check the span and sag before sizing on current alone
- Order terminations and clamps against the selected conductor
- Plan drum lengths against the run schedule rather than cutting on site
- Keep drums on their flanges and protected from mechanical damage in storage

How do I choose the conductor size
Start from the span and the clearance rule you work to, then check the current capacity. Doing it the other way round is how spans end up oversagged.
Can conductor ship with the pole hardware
Yes - conductor, clamps and insulators go on one line list and one consignment.
What drum lengths are available
They are planned against your run schedule at quotation. Send the schedule with the enquiry.
