When the standard catalogue part does not match the line you already have.
Networks are not built to a single catalogue. An existing line may use a bracket dimension, a creepage distance or a fitting arrangement that no standard item matches, and substituting the nearest thing creates a problem at the pole top. Our engineering team develops and manufactures products to a customer's own requirement, which is how these positions get solved without redesigning the line.
From Enquiry to Delivery
Each stage below exists because something goes wrong there when an order is split across suppliers.
Requirement
Problem. A verbal description leaves too much room for interpretation.
How it is handled. Send a drawing, the sample part, or photographs with dimensions and the marking on the installed item.
Engineering Review
Problem. The nearest standard item is offered as a substitute and fails at site.
How it is handled. Our engineers assess whether a catalogue item genuinely matches or whether the part has to be made.
Sample
Problem. A full production run against an unverified drawing is an expensive way to find an error.
How it is handled. A sample is agreed before production where the item is new or the fit is critical.
Production
Problem. A one-off item gets pushed behind volume work.
How it is handled. Production is scheduled with the rest of the order so the custom item does not become the item that holds the shipment.
Inspection
Problem. Dimensional errors are found after the container has sailed.
How it is handled. The item is checked against the agreed drawing before it is packed.
Repeat Supply
Problem. The next order has to re-explain the whole requirement.
How it is handled. The drawing and the order reference are kept so repeat orders are placed against them directly.

What do you need to quote a custom item
A drawing with dimensions, or the sample part. Where neither exists, clear photographs with measurements and the marking from the installed item are usually enough to start.
Will you make a sample first
For new or dimensionally critical items, yes - a sample is agreed before the production run.
Do custom items delay the rest of the order
They are scheduled alongside the standard items. If the custom part genuinely needs longer, that is said at quotation so you can decide whether to split the delivery.
