Silicone Composite Package for Coastal and Industrial Lines
A pole-top specification built around salt spray and industrial fallout rather than clean air.
Lines along a coast, past a cement works or downwind of a refinery fail in a specific way: a pollution layer builds on the insulation surface, wets in dew or drizzle, and tracks until it flashes over. Washing the line works and costs a crew visit every time. This package changes the surface instead of the maintenance schedule.
From Enquiry to Delivery
Each stage below exists because something goes wrong there when an order is split across suppliers.
Environment Review
Problem. The same feeders keep tripping and nobody has tied it to the surroundings.
How it is handled. Tell us the environment - coastal distance, nearby industry, rainfall pattern - and the insulation family is selected against it.
Insulation Selection
Problem. Porcelain in a polluted wet environment wets out across the whole surface.
How it is handled. Silicone housed equipment holds a hydrophobic surface so the wet pollution layer stays broken into droplets rather than a continuous film.
Protection Coordination
Problem. Surge protection and fuses stay on the old specification.
How it is handled. Silicone housed surge arresters, drop out fuses and combi units at 11kV and 33kV are specified together with the insulation.
Termination Sealing
Problem. Terminations track and fail before the line does.
How it is handled. Rain skirts and silicone boots add creepage and seal the termination against water ingress.
Handling and Installation
Problem. Ceramic breaks in transport to a remote coastal site.
How it is handled. Composite units are lighter and do not shatter, so transport losses and pole-top handling both improve.
Review
Problem. Nothing is learned from the failures that remain.
How it is handled. Report what is still failing and the specification for the next phase is adjusted against it.

Does silicone composite remove the need for washing
It changes the mechanism that makes washing necessary. The hydrophobic surface stops the pollution layer forming a continuous conductive film, which is the condition washing is meant to prevent.
Can silicone and porcelain be mixed on one network
Yes, and it is common. Composite goes where pollution and handling dominate, porcelain stays where mechanical load or an existing standard dominates.
Which items are available in silicone at 33kV
Drop out fuses, combi units, surge arresters, gang operated insulators, standoff insulators, J hook insulators and pot insulators are listed at 33kV in this catalogue.
